One Life. Live it!

Hi everyone!

Its been a while since i blogged about life as I am busy living my life!

As with the current fast pace, I have been micro-blogging about life through Facebook & Instagram with short posts & pictures of daily life, I hardly use this blog.

On reflection.
After watching this above clip, brought me to think about my own life. And also about those whom I love. I always want the best for you. I love to see that I have positively, drammatically influenced your life to stretch your potential I saw buried within yearning to come out and i have always this urge to draw it out. Love it when you set challenges for yourself & achieve it, one after another!


It still amazes me much whenever I watch movies. They are produced by people with dreams & visions and influence many to see what they saw. With no absolute guarantee what will the box office results be UNTIL the movie finally open, they are willing to invest up front all the costs they will incur to achieve the special effects & surreal visual experience.

Watched Hercules last night and I really love the show!!! The half God, Hercules thought he is mere mortal all his life. He was ostracised by his own Dad (or whom he thought is) & brother since the day he was born. Nonetheless, he dares to love & be himself, & believe in others. Until one day, his princess love is about to be snatched away from him. He was all fired up! He wanted to save his love. His father even wanted to banish him to Eypt and sent massive armed troops to have him dea, removed him as a threat.
HOWEVER, His will to survive & get back what belongs to him is his only MAJOR reason he stays alive. He fights with all he has. One day, his mum told him he is Son of God & is sent by God to reign the world. He didnt believe her.
Until he was told yet again by the mysterious lady. He was told that until he accepts the truth that he is son of Zeus and his powess will be set free & that he is as strong as he believes he is.
The day he saw his people die in front of him tore him apart inside so much he knew he had to.
Looking up to the sky, he accepts who he is.
And he draws strength from his source.
And he won & protect his people.

It still amazes me how CHOICES we made in our life, due to the people who crossed our paths, the dreams we have about our lives, CAN CHANGE OUR LIVES TOTALLY. Your dream can be ur reality. Why not go all out & have all the fun living ur dream? Why cant it be a reality in this one life you have? We only have one reality. Why not make it everything you want it to be? Why not create your own fate? It's all up to you. The big screen? The Top Charts? The proud achievements? How about now visualise what is your ideal one life? What will you be doing? Who will you be with? What kind of life are you living?
Make sure you CHOOSE to live the one you want.

As i reflected back the choices i made, i realised a human mind can be infinitely strong.
Once we are clear about what we want,
once we decide to do something for ourselves or for others, there is no one to stop you but you. I am 100% responsible for all the things happening in my life and everything happens for a reason.
To lead me to my life purpose. To Serve Others. To Make a Difference. To be valuable to the society. To inspire others to be who they want to be. To lead by example. To fulfil my dreams, first in the mind, then in reality. Bit by bit, with courage, determination & strong will, we get there.
To discover what you love.... and then do it with all your mind, body, heart & soul.

Getting married?? Are you married?

Yes I do get this question so often.
Never did it bug me much (even if everyone around me still puzzled with my singledom) since career is more important.

Until recently I decided to set a long term goal that I will set aside time & set priorities for my love life. That I will get married in 2 years time.
At the end of the day, I do want someone to hug, to take care of me & love me with all his heart and me doing the same for him too. It has to be the right man.

Have i got someone special in mind?
Have anyone captured my heart yet?

2 years means u need to be attached now!

Not necessarily. For me, to know well & become comfortable with someone is quite fast.
Once I'm comfortable, I open up my heart easily.
If you haven't get through that stage, there is a barrier you need to first break. Might be a challenge for most guys. (my gfs yesterday say in the mouse-cheese race, you need to at least let the mouse take a snif at the cheese to know if the cheese is worth the chase! & I apparently don't even give them the chance to come near, let alone sniff!) There u go, i luve honest feedback!

One guy friend of mine told me that day over coffee while we were talking abt each other's love lives, that I give people the impression I am either "happily taken" or a signal to guys "dont bother come near"! He said I am a super confident, smart & attractive woman who has most guys' dream girl attributes but I'm like high up on the heavenly altar & won't let anyone come close! I didn't realise that! So how exactly did I do that?? Share with me?

Its a whole different story once we are a couple. I can only say, my affections are 200% worth persisting for. ;p seriously. I'm both passionate about my career & the love of my life.

I somehow have a penchance for men in sales/ business becos somehow people with same selling skills just clicked! I believe mindsets & values are important in building a strong relationship.

I strongly feel that women shouldn't be bound by biological clock. I'm in no rush to get attached & be pressured into one. I believe the right person would show up in time, according to God's plans. He will show me the way. And it will all feel just right.

People have been asking me about me, my life after Sephora, my passion, my dream, what I see myself going, in the next few years.... and mostly, describe myself.

So I rounded up the questions here they usually ask.

YOU: What’s your passion?

GK: Since young, I have a very very strong passion for VANITY! I started wearing lipstick & cheek blush as a little girl visiting relatives during CNY at age of 7-8. Love rummaging through my auntie's (who was working in the hotel line) cosmetics pouch and find stuff to play. My first brands YSL & Bourjois, were from her. And started using foundation when I was 14. Gosh I was THAT VAIN!

I remembered I just wanted to play & paint. Fave subject has always been Art, getting my fingers dirty...with paint! And then toyed with a Maybelline eyeliner at 15. Guess that little girl in me always wanted to look like a DOLL.

Remember those days after exams but still needed go back to school, everyone would bring their toys to school? The girls would bring barbie dolls and polly pockets. 

YOU: Wow! That was so interesting! Do you still play with dolls?

GK: Haha now I create dolls. Transforming a simple face to a magical doll-like face with makeup give me the THRILL. Nothing beats this satisfaction! Make magic using all my heart and love for people. The process of creation is just soooo indulging. I just see myself doing this for a long time. Better yet I get paid doing what I LOVE. ;) 

YOU: Now let’s hear the easy stuff. What do you do to relax?
GK: When I’m not working, I usually head out to Orchard to browse, to get inspiration, to simply feast my eyes on beautiful things, to touch them - clothes, MAKEUP (I go totally delirious when I see makeup!) & anything that catches my eye. I am like a little girl in a candy store when I walk into boutiques that have my favorite things. Other than shopping, love chillout over tea & frapps for afternoons or meeting like-minded people. Enjoys chatting with people, listening to people's stories and sharing things we like in common together. Love people-watching immensely too. On the streets. They inspire me for either because they are stylish or stylo!) or damn Singaporeans! (Ok, kidding!)
At home, sipping a hot cup of rose tea and paint shoes, paint my face, paint the face charts, play with my makeup swatching and musing over looks I can create. There are simply so many things to do. I love strolling in the parks and picnics too. Love the zoo and science centre, museums... ;p I love yoga too. That's like a lot of things I love...

YOU: Yoga? No wonder you look so slim.
GK: Yeah I love it. Kinda my body wants it. Wakes up and naturally goes into the flow to stretch. My mum used to say I stretch like a cat, rising from her nap. Btw not many people know this, I am also a certified yoga master ;)

YOU: Oh wow! You are a tiny package of all sorts! What else do we not know about you?
GK: Haha just love learning new things. It keeps me feeling alive! I was formerly / formally trained in accountancy, auditing, financials before making the insane career switch from earning a good income to starting from scratch, a counter girl at beauty brands. All my close friends told me I am outta my mind. But if I didnt do that, i wont be living a fruitful life as I am right now, meeting awesome creative people who inspire me and having lots of laughter, fun and ideas! I love my life now. Not that I hated it when i was in finance, but then again, that have toughened me up alot and starting from ground zero totally humbled me too. I am quite blessed to have advanced in a new industry considerably on the fastest lane to success & recognition. Yet all these came because I was prepared. And eager to learn. I am a girl 24/7 on beauty stuff & fashion. You can say I am breathing beauty & fashion 24/7. nothing less. 

YOU: I’m sure all the guys would like to know if this gorgeous babe is currently already taken or available.
GK: Yes I am. Single now. But not in a hurry to find love. Unless I meet someone who is serious and feels right. 

YOU: So your ideal guy would be...?
GK: Someone who is confident & driven. Doing something he loves & pursuing his dream. I think a guy is most attractive when he is serious at work and working intently on his goals. 
Men who are honest and with integrity and a sense of humour. I love a good laugh. They always say my laugh is super infectious! And he must be 100% faithful & takes good care of me. Ultimately, I dont go by the list. I go with my instincts. I am quite visual too. 
Is it really that rare to find in Singapore? They always say, these guys are already married or never exist. Tell me! Are they really all married & only in the dreams?

YOU: Do you think most guys get intimidated by your strong qualities?
GK: Yeah I get that very often. My girlfriends always tell me that most guys like those soft spoken girls, girls who are simple and not so high achievers. And I always get mistaken as already taken. So often guys also won't even dare to date me. But that's not true. Guys still ask, cos they are just guys.
Fortunately I am very good-humoured and amiable. I make friends easily. People who don't know me well, sometimes might think I look sweet. But I am very firm and always have my voice on my beliefs. 

YOU: Would you ever pursue a guy?
GK: It's the new age era perhaps. Don't be deceived by my modernista appearance, I am still quite traditional at heart when it comes to dating.

Are you in...Empty Relationships

Disclaimer: Yet another post unrelated to beauty... read it if you wanna learn about relationships we keep in life. Be it personal, family, love, work, business, life...

"You made me feel complete. Without you, I am nothing."

Ever too often, couples say that.
Are you one of them?


Have you ever... 
Changed yourself for your boyfriend or girlfriend?
Why? Did he ask you to? To prove that you really love him? To change in order to fit the picture he paints about his girl of his dreams? Are both of you happy now? Have things changed? Do you feel unworthy of her/ him?

If they finally come to a place where they can believe you love them, they begin to worry about how long they can keep your love. So, in order to hold onto your love, they start altering their behavior. Thus two people literally lose themselves in a relationship. They get into the relationship hoping to find themselves, and they lose themselves instead.

This losing of the Self in a relationship is what causes most of the bitterness & resentment in most couples.
They entered relationships for the wrong reasons - to fill a gap, or simply find someone to love them- came together hoping the whole will be greater than the sum of the parts, only to find less.
They feel less than when they were single. Less capable, less able, less exciting, less attractive, less joyful, less content. This is because they are less.

They've given up most of who they are in order to be and to stay in the relationship, or simply just to have a relationship. They can't be alone. Every minute they need to feel wanted & loved. Something is missing and they are missing the point.

Relationships are not meant to be this way. Yet this is how most people experienced relationships.
WHY?

Because people have lost touch (if they ever were in touch before) with the purpose of relationships.

Here's the job you came here to do. The joy of creating Self. You are evolving, you are changing, you are becoming. It is Self conscious.

You need time to work on your Self first before you can acknowledge who you are and becoming. Before you are truly ready to love others or to receive love.
You must first see your Self as worthy before you can see another as worthy.

"Blessed are the Self-centered, for they shall know God. And nothing shakes them."

If you put the cart before the horse, you will one day resent it. You will never get to where you wish to go. No matter how your heart calls out to you, no matter what signals God sends you, you are just going in circles, going back to square one. But you still feel the frustration and attachment. Then you stepped away from feeling it, brushing it aside.

So there are things you can do when you react with pain and hurt to what another is being, saying or doing. 1st is to admit to yourself and to the other exactly what you are feeling. This many of you are afraid to do, because you think it will make you "look bad". Somewhere, deep inside you, you probably feel it is ridiculous to feel that way and you are bigger than that. But you cant help it and still feel that way. You are living a lie. You want to take the safer route. You want to lose the least.
Why do you always want to be right? Is it really right? Or just you believe so?

That is why Masters are imperturbable in the face of what others might call calamity.

Well intentioned, well meaning, very religious as you think it is, many did what they thought would be best for the other person in their relationships. Sadly it is abuse, continued dysfunction in the relationship. Ultimately the person trying to do right is quick to forgive, look past the problems and behaviors, feign patience & forgiveness becomes resentful and unchanging. They suffer in silence.

You cannot have it all until you are willing to give it all up.
Holding onto something doesn't mean it's been a success. Staying in one because you "have to". Do not confuse longevity with a job well done. Many years in a relationship doesn't mean it is fantastic. Many years in a job doesn't mean you are expert in it.
Unless you want to continue living a lie or a long life of quiet desperation where you enjoy repeating these patterns from your past.
The truth is relentless. It keeps creeping up on you from every side, showing you what it is. You may find it tempting yet confusing.

Do you seem to be going round in circles?
That's because you keep asking the same question in 3 different ways hoping to hear a different answer. You keep asking, hoping God will say something different each time. This is not working.




The goal is not about how long you can stay in relationships.
The goal is to decide decide and experience who you are capable of becoming.

Find yourself.
Define yourself.
Recreate yourself.


Find time for yourself. What you want, who you want to be, what kind of love you seek.
Define the real you. Your feelings and your dreams. You are never too far. Life leaves trails for you to track.
Recreate the kind of relationship your Subsconscious has been hinting at you to go forth and chase it.

Was watching Michelle Phan's latest video and heard these words that I always believe in.

"Life is full of surprises. We never know what moments will inspire the next chapter in our story, there is a saying that, we must move on from our past in order to fully appreciate our new beginning. Starting over can be hard, but change in life is only possible when we no longer stand still. Change is sweet, and can inspire us to try new things, especially when we are moving on to something. I believe everything happens for a reason, good and bad. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happens. Holding on to regrets can prevent you from living life to the fullest. If you don't allow it to happen, you may never know what you're missing. 
If destiny is calling out your name, answer it.... you might be in for a new adventure.

So keep your mind, heart and eyes open.
And a new adventure will find you."

Love or Marriage?

A side thought!

This post is unrelated to the beauty posts i would dedicate this blog to. Yet since we are moving onto 2012 with new year resolutions... & parents hounding me for marriage partners to settle for, with all the reasons that don't appeal to me least.

My question is,
"Would you marry for love or for the sake of marriage?"

We were created by Love, for love, to love.

Do you get married because you supposedly reach a certain marriageable age and the person with you at that moment would then be the person you marry?

Or would you look for love, and only the feeling with that someone makes you wanna tie the knot and spend the rest of your lives together?

Would you choose a girl who has her own thoughts and bold enough to pursue her dreams & aspirations? And you are willing to be her biggest supporter and be her best friend.

True love & passion is intoxicating and invigorating, soothing and sensuous, magical and mystical.  
Whether we are comfortable with this truth or not, we were conceived in passion, born in passion and will die in passion. When we search for Something More, it is simply the soul's plea to live in truth & passionately. 

Or due to others' nagging, would you settle for a girl who can be controlled easily, has no mind of her own and listens to you all the time? She will stay home to bear you children and takes care of the house while you work.......
Even if you don't love her or don't feel excited abt a lifetime marriage with her, u deem it's a waste of time hers & yours, those 3, 10, 20 years you been together.
But...
Have you thought abt this from the past or from the future perspective? You will waste the next 30, 40, 50 years of both your lives, with no love or passion in the marriage. Is this the love of ur life?

I don't have a long list of what the guy should have before I like him or agree to his dating.

Eventually, I want to spend the rest of my life happily with the guy who is determined, decisive, very self-driven, living his dream everyday, doing the things he is passionate about, his own business, gets things going, awesome sense of humour, smarter than me, faithful, loves me loads, understands me & gives me space, openly communicates everything together and the most important thing, he is my best friend and I can share everything & talk with him for hours and hours about anything in the world. ;)
And I KNOW he's out there...

Gadget Review: MacBook Air 11"

Cant tell you how much I adore my MacBook Air baby!


The best notebook i own by far. World's thinnest notebook.
There's (defnitely) something in the Air.


The Single MOST important reason for this adoration is I can claim anywhere my workplace and still look incredibly stylish with MacBook Air!


I have been a Windows user for the longest time since Bill Gates created one... haha
and all these years using Windows, I always wanted to try out MacBook and didnt have the chance to because of the reviews people always give : Not friendly interface, programs difficult to use, functionality very different from Windows OS, not compatible programs with most users....

3 years ago i wanted to get a MacBook but ended up getting a HP mini notebook!
For those who know me well, knew I luve everything BIG & chunky! Ahem! i mean my accessories like rings, necklaces, bracelets & homme watches!

But when it comes to laptops, I always luve smaller portable ones so I can bring them out.
I am one who is more productive in outdoor environments such as cafes (Starbucks - my FAVE!!!, Breko cafe also luves) to study, work and chill! Somehow, ideas flow to me easily when I am in Starbucks and always have been! I could finish up my presentation for concept after concept in like 3-4 hours as compared to trying to work at home, late at night, and spending more than 5-6hours for the whole week and getting nothing done! Haha! But its true! Oh of cos I used to work in McDonalds - King Albert Park was my fave too! Pls dun stalk me... ;p

So here's my MacBook Air review!

My baby! My new toy!

COST

It costs S$1288 for this 64gb, 11inch notebook that has the capacity of a laptop.
Seriously I think its a steal! ;P wonderful price for a Mac!

In fact, as I looked around, I saw notebooks retailing at $799 ... yet since I love Apple products, I shall get a Mac! And moreover, I have someone who kept going on & on about how awesome MacBooks are...;p one of the factors prolly would be to look cOOLer!!! Hahaha

STARTING UP
It loads up super fast - 3 seconds I am ready to work on any documents or apps immediately!
Kid you not when I say 3 seconds! I can start opening my Google Chrome. Talk about split seconds! Woohoo!

FUNCTIONS
It has all the technical functions as a normal laptop should have.
Not very keen on the keyboard, yet with my high level of adaptability, I now type as fast as I can on my IBM/ HP mini.

If you like Apple iPhones, you will love MacBook and Apple makes it so cool to use!
Especially dig these lovely features!
1) Swishing with 4 fingers to pan across different desktops. You can have 4 desktops of different applications running if you are someone who are guilty of opening too many applications at one time, super multi-tasker!

2) Scrolling up & down is so easy peasy, lemon squeezy!
I really enjoy the scrolling so much I just scroll sometimes for FUN!

3) Enlarging the screen or any webpage instantly without having to go to settings.
Simply using the same finger movements as you would on your iPhone, you can zoom in and out! ;) Isnt that cool!?

4) Going "Back" to the previous browsing pages haven't been so much easier!
Just use 2 fingers to swipe right to left will bring you instantly to the previous page you visited! ;) WOW!

5) Love the "Search" at the right hand top corner. Like the iPhone, you can search for any keyword and you find your documents right away!

EXTRAS
I purchased the additional Microsoft Office package and got "reprimanded" by my brother for wasting money! Could have downloaded it online!
Well I bought it because
- since its my new baby
- online programs run the risk of being virus prone
- after being advised by the Epicentre sales assistant that cost of downloading iWorks from app store (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) would be about the same price as buying Microsoft Office package and that converting iWorks files to Office version is not as compatible since some images or functions may be lost
- most users out there use Office documents so its easier to transfer files

PORTABILITY 

Super duper hyper portable!!! Super shiok to find out that most of my handbags and tote bags can easily fit in my Air (its light as air!) and a lot of other items a girl would bring when they go out!
If you are wondering what, I bring along with me all the time my essentials in a pouch
- 1 lip product (lip gloss/ lipstick/ lip balm)
- 1 fragrance spray
- 1 K Palette eyeliner
- 1 retractable loose powder brush with loose powder loaded
Funny thing is, apart from the lip balm, I hardly need to touch ups with my makeup application routine!

Some of my favorite pouches to carry:
my Longchamp navy pouch, Anna Sui velvet pouch, Jean Paul Gaultier cosmetic pouch, black organza sheer pouch!

It fits nicely into my black leather envelope clutch, my nude beige doctor bag, my camel nubuck travel tote, celine cabas, and others! ;p

And have you seen the MacBook air advert? The Air was sent in a Manilla envelope, no need for parcel! How clever advertising is that! Yes everyone commented that it looks damn SLEEK (like me!!!) & skinny like a folder! ;)

Why not perfect score?
1) Where's my Paint program?
2) Office version slightly different - working on presentations are kinda slower cos I'm trying to get used to it. However this flaw is downplayed by the available creative & handy presentation formats they offer!
3) You can drag & drop programs & files here and there... yet not all the time. Do this only in the Finder program.

A side thought..

after watching the drama "In Time With You"
some things came to mind.

This girl very arrogant & headstrong, not the innocent sweet girly girl
yet can be your best friend, lover & confidante, mentor...anytime.

You love someone, but cant love that someone.
Both of you love each other but dont dare to make progress towards love relationship from great friendship, for fear of changing everything thats nice and good abt both of you.

Then there are admirers and suitors around you.
You just cant seem to communicate well about your ideals, dreams & aspirations...
and always feel tired after quarrelling and meeting them.

And one of you may have a boyfriend or girlfriend who cant seem to understand you or what you want, cos you are simply too headstrong.
Yet the more they love you or rather are just given too much, invested too much in the relationship (could be time or money) and would be wasted if leave now.
So they clung onto you and would listen to you as long as you take them along with you to wherever you are going.

Is this real love?
When we are watching dramas, we can spot this immediately and would say " they should get together!"

But in real life, especially for yourself, your own love life,
you dont see it as clearly. But its not easy to see it too.
Alot of times, the other party gives in to you, gives you the freedom you want and you also dont wish to hurt the someone. But think of it, the hurt is eternal and to both of you as long as you are together, hearts are somewhere else.

If you are in this, what would you do?
Will you get married to a man who seem to be everything good on the surface, and to everyone he is the perfect marriage material...but you don't love him as much as you wish to because your heart isnt there with him?

Or would you choose to pursue your heart, and risk the friendship, for the possibility it might turn out he also feels the same way for you??
