Currently the hottest, the Coolest Female Singer in today's music industry title undoubtedly GOES TO Chae Lin (better known as "CL"), leader & rapper for 2NE1, the alternative Kpop girl group who is fashion-forward, individualistic daring fashion tastes & styles since their 1st debut & have stayed true to their styles. Awesome JY marketing there!

Aren't we just sick of a whole bunch of tooooo saccharine sweet girls who are just pretty to look at with almost zero substance? You know what i mean.

At times, it's nice. After a while, it doesn't last.

Still prefer the COOL STYLO girl with LOADS of 'couldnt care less' attitude than the sweet fresh-faced girl anytime! 

Makeup in korean MVs always set the trends- fashion & MAKEUP!

Luve watching the new music vidz for inspirations & transform into them! 

CL's styling in the "The Baddest Female" video is all "GIZIBED Gold" glittery glitzy glam! Think LOUD. Think GOLD.

Whereas the makeup is kept kinda clean & chic. 

FACE: 

Flawless smooth face. Perfect.

To achieve this, a good base or primer is a MUST. I cannot stress how important primers are. Not using primers are just like a building without a good foundation - will collapse anytime. Primers give an awesome smooth blending result such that foundation goes on effortlessly & lesser amount will be needed. It also help protect skin from the direct contact with the makeup, hence prevent skin from aging. I can talk for hours about Primers. People all know I am "Queen of Primers"! Haha

EYES: 

High winged cat eyes, using jet black liquid eyeliner

Lower eyelid winged out, using pencil eyeliner to create a fish-tail effect, I like to call it "Fin-Eyes". 

This effect makes the eyes look 2X BIGGER & WIDER, without the heavy eyeshadow dosage. 

Try it! It gets kinda addictive actually. ;p

In my version below, I didn't extend the cat eyes too high up as I am going for meetings. If on weekends, I would be BOLDER to go more curved in the Cat Eyes! *wink

CHEEKS:

She wore little blush, almost non-existent. Could see a faint peach blush on her apples of the cheeks.

Bronzer is key in this makeup, to make her looking more American-ised glowy makeup. 

No matter how the Koreans deny their attempts to look like Americans, they are indulgently influenced by the vibrant happening LA culture.

Who isn't, since fashion is majorly dictated there? 

To get chiseled right away (even if you have a bloated face), Suck in your cheeks, sweep bronzer up & under your cheekbones to sculpt!

In the palest lightest softest pink ever.

If you have naturally darker lips, use a concealer or foundation and dab a little to lighten lip color.

Apply a light petal pink gloss to top & bottom lips. DO NOT purse ur lips together. Leave them looking glossy & juicy.

On Monday morning 10AM, I was at SPH News Centre KISS92 Radio Station studio doing a recording with my old friend, DJ Maddy and sharing about tons of makeup tips!
As you know, I am very excited whenever you ask me about makeup. I am someone who you can even wake me up middle of the night, asking beauty questions and I will tirelessly enthusiastically answer all your questions! ;)



I had so much FUN recording!
Its an impromptu look "POWER BROWS" we decided to ride on! The IT look all A-lister celebrities & supermodels are wearing on their faces off-duty, on red carpets & on the runways.
Nadirah & KISS team video-ed me transforming Maddy's face with the Power Brows WOW!

Are Power Brows going to stay or go? My personal take on this trend is gonna be as long lived as the ultimate Smokey Eyes & Nude Makeup on the runways too!

WHY???

Power brows, as many didn't know, can make you look suddenly YOUNG, almost erasing 5-8 years off your face! Wow! What an easy anti-aging method, ladies! Oh it isnt just for the ladies!
I personally love thick brows on guys cos I think its really sexyyy!

And you know what? The classic style icon, Audrey Hepburn is the ultimate representation of this look way back then in 1960's. Doesn't she look endearing?

Since Spring 2012, we see lots of repeats in this trend on all the fashion shows and we can't say enough! Cara Delevinge, IT supermodel has brought it back to fame again and many celebrities too!

I always teach this in my makeup workshops, sharing with the ladies, the "1950s overly plucked, highly arched brows" are so DATED passe and oh please, kindly "bring your brows out of the house"!

Brows frame the face like photoframes for the pictures. It anchors your facial features and add strong dimension and impression, making a positive impact with people you meet. People will find you more trustworthy & steady with a pair of nicely groomed brows. Well image you may argue as superficial, guess what? The subconscious mind is at play all the time!

If you are in the sales industry or need to meet people & negotiate deals, definitely brows are your anchors to succeed in power of persuasion!

Makeup Demystified: Korean Nude Makeup

Question: How to look sexy with "no makeup"?
Answer: Korean Natural/ Nude Eyes

It's the IT trend now. "No Makeup Makeup" Look that's seen on every magazine cover in Japan, Korea, USA, Hongkong and even Singapore! Just look at every guy's fantasy girl is any girl in Girls Generation. They all look demure & sweet.

Yet to achieve that "flawless" look, you need makeup to achieve. Naked eyes cant see, but expert eyes can tell you if the celebrity uses makeup to enhance her features!

Everytime I receive a fashion or bridal makeup request, it used to be Smokey Eyes. Now its "Nude Eyes" being the Number 1 most asked for look. Now you are crying and groaning. "Nude eyes is also the Number 1 most difficult look!!!"

Every attempt you tried just makes your eyes look spaced out but nothing near sexy?


Most girls gave up after 1-2 attempts of nude eyes. Don't give up!

THE PRIME - APPLY - DEFINE TECHNIQUE by Gel

Step 1: PRIME EYES
To get the smooth blended effect, EYE PRIMER is a MUST! Primer keeps the lids clean and brighter looking.
Colors last longer for more than 8 hours.
My current favorite is Mary Kay Eye Primer. Urban Decay works very well too.


Step 2: APPLY SHADOW
Apply the nude brown shadow all over the eyelid.


STEP 3: DEFINE LASH & EYES
Using eyeliner to define eyes are the quickest method.

Add Black liner & false lashes and Voila! The look is complete! ;)
Nude eyes must go with natural false lashes.

Primers are my top secret weapons (by now, everyone who know me knows I preach it like a broken record!) to any flawless & poreless complexion on any model or celebrity's face I have the chance to apply makeup on!
As you know, most people have enlarged pores and they are so tired of concealing them with powder that didn't seem to help. Their pores get clogged easily and their makeup don't ever last.

MY Solution: USE A PRIMER. (sandpaper or blotting paper or touching up foundation)
Apply it before foundation after sunscreen.
Say bye bye to oiliness & smudging!

This mousse like texture is kinda strange to me (least favorite of all). But the effect is quite nice. You see a slightly brighter complexion with little specks of radiance. Use only a little as the mousse like texture can take a while to blend!

Most people would look at this dome and find it intimidating!
